


There were many things that went into it, but the important thing was trying to understand the spirit of the man, and to recreate that. And there was language training, because I was playing somebody who has a Punjabi flavor in the way he speaks. Then there was the physical training because I was portraying an athlete. That automatically created the spirit of that character within me. To just try and give everything that I possibly could. So it was important to follow that same philosophy vis-a-vis his approach to his sport. Someone who sacrificed a lot, and so everyone looked up to him with a great degree of admiration for what he stood for. He (Milkha Singh) is someone whose name is used as an example of an athlete who trained harder than anyone else and was extremely dedicated to what he did. Do you want to tell us a little bit about how you prepared for the role?įarhan Akhtar: It was pretty intense as far as any prep for me personally goes.
